Mahatma Gandhi University was established by the Government of Andhra
Pradesh in the year 2007. It caters to the needs of Higher Education in this area
with its primary aim of accomplishing academic excellence. Mahatma Gandhi
University also seeks to establish rapport with the rural farming communities as
well as rural artisans in addition to exposing its alumni to the ever changing
socio, political, economic, cultural, scientific, technological and business
paradigms the world over.
The university is headed by Dr. Katta Narasimha Reddy, Professor of Physics,
Osmania University, Hyderabad. He assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor on
18.05.2011. Dr. K. Pochanna, Professor of Economics, Osmania University
joined as Registrar on 18.08.2011.
