As part of the Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR), Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda has installed 60 KWP On Grid SPV Solar Power Plants at a cost of Rs. 37,29,643/- (Rupees Thirty Seven Lakhs Twenty Nine Thousand Six Hundred and Forty Three only) on the roof top of Arts Block Building. MGU is contributing towards reduction in the pollution through generation of clean energy.

On-grid photovoltaic system, or grid-connected PV system is an electricity generating solar PV power system that is connected to the utility grid. A grid-connected PV system consists of solar panels, inverter, a power conditioning unit and grid connection equipment.

The electricity generated is routed to the grid for the consumption purposes. The net meter records the energy supplied to the grid and the energy consumed by the University. On a monthly basis the excess energy consumption is calculated and billed. Thus the University is saving on the power bills through the generation of the clean energy.
